Labour Law 1B is a continuation of Labour Law 1A and a 16-credit module presented at National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 6. This module further develops students’ understanding of South African labour law by focusing on the regulation of the employment relationship and the mechanisms used to resolve workplace disputes. The module equips Human Resources practitioners with the legal knowledge and critical thinking skills required to identify, analyse, and address labour-related challenges that arise in the workplace. Through engagement with relevant legislation, case law, and practical workplace scenarios, students will develop the ability to apply labour law principles to HR decision-making in areas such as social insurance legislation, transfers of undertakings, and labour dispute resolution. The module emphasises both theoretical understanding and practical application to ensure that students are able to respond lawfully and effectively to employment-related issues in professional contexts.
