About Dr Ashura Abdul-Rasheed
Dr Abdul-Rasheed is a chiropractic academic and clinician with local and international experience, currently serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Chiropractic. Her clinical expertise and academic experience have positioned her as a committed contributor to advancing the chiropractic profession within South Africa and globally. She holds a PhD in Health Sciences and a Master鈥檚 degree in Chiropractic. Her scholarship is centred on the integration of chiropractic within public health systems, with a focused research agenda aimed at strengthening the profession鈥檚 role in equitable musculoskeletal healthcare delivery. Her work seeks to enhance the visibility, accessibility, and policy relevance of chiropractic care within mainstream healthcare frameworks.
Dr Abdul-Rasheed is a recipient of funding from the National Research Foundation (NRF), reflecting her ability to secure competitive research support. She maintains an active postgraduate supervision portfolio and contributes to the scholarly community as a peer reviewer for academic journals and through engagement in local and international conferences and publications.
She is an active member of professional chiropractic bodies and is licensed to practise in both South Africa and Qatar bringing in an array of clinical expertise to her teaching. Her teaching is grounded in evidence-informed practice and the integration of traditional and biomedical healthcare systems, preparing graduates to engage critically and competently within evolving health systems.
