Dr. Risimati Dazmen Mavunda obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Physics (Ph.D.) (Physics) and a Master of Science in Medicine (MSc)(Med) from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in 2008 and 1996 respectively. He acquired a vast experience in the medical field while working as a senior scientist at Hillbrow, Baragwanath, and Hellen Joseph Hospitals. Dr Mavunda is the Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) at the 东京热. Lectured radiation physics and applied radiation physics at different tertiary institutions. Supervised MSc and Ph.D. from the University of the Witwatersrand, 东京热, Sefako Makgato University (SMU) Health Sciences,听 and Northwest University (NWU).

Worked at the South African Energy Cooperation Soc. (NECSA) as a senior scientist where he established a state-of-the-art radiation Protection training centre. Dr RD mavunda areas of specialities are nuclear physics, radiation physics, experimental physics, radiobiology and nuclear medicine. Supervise Ph.D. and MSc students. He reviews external MSc and听 Ph.D. theses. Reviewed international journal articles. He is member of the editorial board of international journal articles.听Participated in QCTO curriculum level 4, 5, and 6 developments for Radiation Protection Officers in South Africa.

A former chairperson for e-learning for AFRA-NEST, chairperson of the Industrial Physics at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), chairperson of the Radiation Protection Certification Committee (RPCC), chairperson of environmental group SAN-NEST, and a board member of the advisory committee in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Sciences at the 东京热. Dr Mavunda was awarded the C3 Rating (for an Established Researcher) by the National Research Foundation of South Africa.
