UJ community marks International Women鈥檚 Day with dialogue on Justice and Gender Collaboration
Members of the 东京热 community gathered at the STH Kerzner Auditorium on the Auckland Park Bunting Campus to commemorate International Women鈥檚 Day under the theme 鈥淩ights! Justice! Action! For All Women and Girls 鈥 Moving Beyond Campaigns to Everyday Practice.鈥
The event brought together authors, thought leaders and students for a dialogue exploring how both women and men can contribute to advancing justice, equity and empowerment for women and girls.

UJ Law Students proudly participated in this week鈥檚 SABC IT鈥橲 TOPICAL on an episode examining the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Recently, suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner for Crime Detection, Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya, addressed serious allegations and defended his role in key policing decisions. Our law students engaged in a robust live discussion alongside security expert Mike Bolhuis and senior legal practitioner Thabo Masombuka, interrogating the critical question: How close is the commission to establishing the full truth?

UJ Law Clinic Celebrates 45 Years of Impact
In 2026, the 东京热 (UJ) Law Clinic marks 45 years of advancing access to justice while shaping generations of socially conscious legal professionals. What began in February 1981 with just 18 pioneering students has grown into a cornerstone of UJ Law鈥檚 academic and community-engagement mission, serving thousands of indigent clients while providing rigorous, hands-on clinical legal education.
UJ Faculty of Law Welcomed First-Year Cohort with Orientation and Inaugural Oath-Taking Ceremony
The 东京热 (UJ) Faculty of Law welcomed its first-year cohort for the 2026 academic year on 4鈥5 February 2026 through a dynamic and structured Orientation Programme designed to prepare students for the academic and ethical demands of legal study. The Faculty also introduced its inaugural Oath-Taking ceremony, which symbolised the formal beginning of their journey as future custodians of the rule of law and reinforced the Faculty鈥檚 dedication to producing graduates who are academically excellent, ethically grounded, and socially conscious.

On Friday, 13 February 2026, the Faculty of Law at the 东京热 hosted its inaugural Faculty Welcome/Indaba at the Johannesburg Country Club. The event marked the official commencement of the 2026 academic year and brought together academic and professional staff in a spirit of unity, reflection, and forward planning.
